KICK-EEZ Grid to Fit pads come in 4 thicknesses. The thinnest being 1/2" and the thickest being 1 1/8" thick.

All thicknesses can be identified with the middle number in  the part number. For example a 201-6-L-B the 6 is the thickness identifier. (See chart below)

The hole spacing on the KICK-EEZ grind to fit pads is 3 1/8" from center to center. 

On all the Large pads (I.E. Pads ending in "01" Example the 201, 301, 401, 501, and 601) the hole is 1 9/16" from the toe and 1" from the heel

On all the Medium pads (I.E. Pads ending in "02" Example the 202, 302, 402, 502, and 602) the hole is 1 3/16" from the toe and 9/16" from the heel

The Junior Pad (304) the hole spacing is 2 3/4" from center to center. 1 1/8" from the toe and 3/4" from the heel. 

The Special "Slotted" Series Recoil Pad can accomidate a minum hole spacing of 2 7/8" to a maxium hole spacing of 7/8"

Slip-Over Recoil Pad may be an easy fix to increase your Length-Of-Pull and reduce felt recoil without removing the existing recoil pad on your gun. The Slip-Over Recoil Pad comes with a 1/2” Sorbothane insert; however, you can purchase additional 1/2” or 1/4” inserts. These inserts are 50 durometers of Sorbothane. You can add or subtract these inserts to get more LOP or more recoil reduction. If you measure the length and the width of the butt face of your gun, it will help you decide which Slip-Over Pad to order. If you can’t quite decide which one to order, always choose the smaller size because you want the pad to fit snug. The sizes of our Slip-Over Pads are as follows:

1. Small: 4 1/2 x 1 1/2” up to 4 13/16 x 1 5/8”
2. Medium: 4 13/16 x 1 5/8” up to 5 1/8 x 1 3/4”
3. Large: 5 1/8 x 1 3/4” up to 5 3/8 x 1 7/8”

Suggestions for adding additional Sorbothane inserts inside of Slip-Over Pads: In addition to the 1/2” piece that is supplied with the Slip-On boot, you could add one more 1/2” piece, and one more 1/4” piece. Adding all three of these would give you a pad that is 1 1/4” thick and still give stability to the boot.

Our Slip-Over Recoil boots are made of a natural rubber compound. The side of the boot is 1/16” thick, the base (or butt) of the boot is 1/8” thick. The boot and a 1/2” Sorbothane insert will add 5/8” to your existing LOP.

The Slip-Over Recoil boot itself does not absorb recoil; it is the inserts that are made to fit inside the Slip-On pads that absorb recoil. Slip-On Pads will absorb the same amount of recoil as our Pre-Fit or Grind-To-Fit Pads as long as they are the same thickness. For example: A Slip-On Boot and 1/2” Sorbothane insert will add 5/8” to your LOP; if you add another 1/2” insert, your thickness would now be 1 1/8” which would be equal in recoil reduction to all our Pre-Fit Pads or a GTF Pad that is 1 1/8” thick.

KICK-EEZ® Pre-Fit Pads are a quick fix; two screws out and two screws in and your pad is installed. Unfortunately, stock variances, age, temperature and humidity all play a role in finding a Pre-Fit Pad to fit your stock. The best thing to do is to check the templates for our Pre-Fit Pads by printing two or three of the templates that are closest to your stock measurements, remove your old pad, measure the length and width, and stand your gun on the template. The accuracy of the pad is on the line of the template not on the inside. Screw hole placement is critical for synthetic stocks; use your old pad to compare screw location on the printed template. You can sand our Pre-Fit Pads the very same way you sand our Grind-To-Fit Pads. All our Pre-Fit Pads are 1 1/8” thick, so this may be an issue for your LOP but it will give you maximum recoil reduction.

If you are unable to locate a Pre-Fit Pad that will fit your stock, then you will need to check our Large Grind-To-Fit Pads for a pad that will fit. Our Grind-To-Fit Pads are exactly the same as our Pre-Fit Pads; they simply come in more styles, sizes and thicknesses of 1/2”, 3/4”, 15/16”, 1 1/8” and 1 3/8”. Their screw holes are 3 1/8” apart and the pads are 5 5/8″ long x 2″ wide. You can view all the styles and sizes of our GTF Pads on our website. KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads have no steel plates or hollow spots; therefore, grinding one to fit your stock is very easy.

Length of Pull can be adjusted by adding spacers that go between the butt pad and the gun butt of your gun or you can simply install a thicker pad. Spacers are a strong, light-weight plastic polymer and can be easily sanded.

Regular Spacers are available in 1/8”, 1/4” & 1/2” thicknesses.

Pitch Spacers are also available to address positive or negative pitch needs. Pitch spacers are available in thicknesses of 1/4” and 1/2”.

KICK-EEZ® Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads come in thicknesses of 1/2’, 3/4”, 15/16”, 1 1/8” and 1 3/8”. Find a spacer/recoil pad combination that works for you. Once you determine your needs, you can glue the spacer to the pad and then grind them both at the same time to match your gun stock butt or you can grind separately so you can remove the spacer later if needed.

KICK-EEZ® standard pads are made of Sorbothane that is 70 durometers (the hardness of the material) on the “00” Scale. KICK-EEZ Dual-Action Pads are made of two layers of Sorbothane. On a 1” recoil pad, there is a 1/4” soft layer of Sorbothane that is 60 durometers that is sandwiched between the baseplate and the remaining 3/4” layer of 70 durometer Sorbothane by passing shock waves through different durometer layers, the shock waves are diminished by approximately 4-6% over our regular recoil pads. Shooters that are sensitive to recoil will enjoy this reduction.

The approximate weight of KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads is as follows:

Large Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 3/4” thick weigh 4.7 oz.

Large Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 15/16” thick weigh 5.8 oz.

Large Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 1 1/8” thick weigh 7.2 oz.

Medium Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 3/4” thick weigh 4.0 oz.

Large Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 15/16” thick weigh 5.1 oz.

Large Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads that are 1 1/8” thick weigh 6.4 oz.

To clean KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads, use mild dish soap and water and dry with a clean cloth.

CHEEK-EEZ is an oval shaped sheet of microcellular urethane that adheres to your gun comb to eliminate recoil shock to the cheek. These pads are also very useful if you need some adjustment to your “line of sight.” When installing the pad, it is very important to clean the gun stock thoroughly with alcohol swabs or the like. Keep in mind that some high-gloss finishes and many synthetic stocks do not lend themselves to the adhesive backing on our Cheek-EEZ. To install, position the pad temporarily (do not remove the adhesive backing at this point) to check for proper location on your gun. When you are satisfied with the placement of the Cheek-EEZ then you can remove the adhesive backing and secure to your gun.

Note: We do not recommend EVER that you try to reapply or reposition a Cheek-EEZ once the backing is removed as the adhesive quality is diminished and there is a chance you could tear the pad.

Installing More Than One Cheek-EEZ on the same gun:

You can stack Cheek-EEZ on top of each other (they WILL stick to each other); however, once they are stacked, you cannot separate them from each other without ruining all the Cheek-EEZ.

Removing a Cheek-EEZ

To remove a Cheek-EEZ, use your thumbs or the palm of your hand and slowly roll or peel it off. Removing too quickly can tear the pad or leave a glue residue on your stock. If this occurs, we always recommend that you check with your gun manufacturer to see if they recommend a latex remover that would be safe to use on your stock.

Gluing a Cheek-EEZ

Question: The Cheek-EEZ will not adhere to my gunstock; therefore, is it ok to use glue to attach a Cheek-EEZ pad to my gunstock?

Answer: We absolutely NEVER recommend gluing anything on your gunstock; therefore, if you choose to do this, do so at your own risk.

A disc or belt sander works great for sanding your pad; the key is to put the pad on your gun butt and scribe a pencil line around the gun stock, be sure to let the screws take the pad into position. This will ensure the proper fit when finished. This will show you how much you have to sand; in order to protect your stock, always sand the pad OFF your stock. Note: Both our Grind-to-Fit and our Pre-Fit Pads can be ground.

Start out using 80 or 100 grit sand paper and progressively go to a finer grit such as 220 grit. You can finish grinding with 400 grit or a similar size. It is VERY important that you make SEVERAL passes so that heat does not build up in the pad. You should finish radiusing the side and edges of your pad with a small sponge sanding block (these are sold at Home Depot or most any hardware store). Some people even use emery cloth or polishing pads to make the pads smooth. When in doubt, always go slow and repeat passes. Patience is the key! As long as you follow these rules, you should NEVER encounter any problems sanding a KICK-EEZ® Recoil Pad! KICK-EEZ® Recoil Pads have no steel plates or hollow spots so you can sand as little or as much as necessary and never need to worry about ruining your pad.

To clean your pad when finished sanding you can use Armor All, Lemon Pledge—it works really well to blacken a KICK-EEZ® Pad, Damp warm cloth or just plain soap and water.

These instructions will work ONLY if the curve of your stock is less than 1/4 inch and preferably 1/8 inch.

Note: Follow these instructions at your own risk!

Place the pad in a plastic sandwich bag that you can seal the top completely closed. Place the pad that is sealed inside the bag into boiling water for 2-3 minutes. What this does is soften the base plate enough so that you can then bend the pad to fit the curvature of your gun butt. Sometimes people have placed a broom handle on their work bench and placed the pad over the broom handle. It will cool quickly and take on the new shape. Keep this in mind—if the curvature is extreme, this will shorten the pad and also perhaps it will change the location of the screw holes. Our KICK-EEZ® Sorbothane pads will NOT be altered as long as you don’t overdue the length of time in the boiling water (2-3 minutes).

As an alternative to boiling pads a heat gun may be used as long as the heat is not excessive. Using a good heat gun or small propane torch, heat the base between the screw holes. Using a torch, it will take 5-10 seconds to heat the base enough to bend the pad backwards over a hammer or broom handle. Hold in place for 3-4 minutes and it should keep the new curve. Do not worry if you put too much curve in the pad; the screws will pull the pad down to match the butt curve. Scribe your sanding line on the baseplate, remove the pad from your stock, and sandas necessary.

Mixing the Putty

Note: Mix the putty when prompted to in the “Plugging the Pad” section.

1. Have two disposal bowls ready.

2. Bowl 1: Place 3 heaping tablespoons of cornstarch in this bowl.

3. Bowl 2: Squeeze 3 tablespoons worth of silicone out. There is no need to be precise with these amounts.

4. Place a generous amount of the black food coloring into the silicone. Mix until color is the consistent.

5. Place the putty in the cornstarch. 

Plugging the Pad

Be sure to plug after you've sanded the pad.

1. Place clear packing tape over the two holes on both sides of the Kick-EEZ logo. Make sure the tape is stretched over the holes tightly. Mask any other portions of the pad that you don't want getting dirty. This isn't mandatory, but it saves some cleaning up later.

2. Mix up the putty. Don't be sparing with the food coloring. Add plenty in order to get the color to match.

3. When first mixing, fold it very softly 5-6 times and coat in cornstarch. Fold it more firmly 5-6 times again and coat it in cornstarch. Keep repeating this process making the folds more and more firm each time until the putty no longer feels tacky after the folds.

4. Take a portion of the putty and press it into the hole on in the hard base of the pad with your finger (please wear gloves). There will be excess putty that doesn't go into the hole. Pile that putty over the hole again and press it into the hole. Keep doing this until the hole is full. 

Note 1: If you want the color to match, do not overfill the hole because the putty has a different color once it has been cut. Fill it until it is flush with the rest of the pad. If you don't mind the color matching, then overfilling is no issue, you can just cut the excess with a utility blade and sand the area of the plug to have it look and feel flush with the rest of the pad.

5. Let the putty dry for at least 3 hours.

6. After the putty has set up, sand the hard base of the pad lightly to remove any putty that would be wedged between the stock and the pad once the pad is installed.
