KICK-EEZ® Pre-Fit Rifle and Shotgun Recoil Pad Templates

When we originally created KICK-EEZ® Pre-Fit Pads, our intent was to make it as easy as possible for customers to locate a pad that would properly fit their gun. At inception, the idea was GREAT. However, we quickly realized that since stock manufacturers are constantly making changes to their existing stocks as well (as creating new ones), our charts and recommendations were becoming outdated as quickly as they were updated.

Print Our Pre-Fit Templates

Because of constant adjustment to manufacturer stock sizes throughout the industry, the only accurate way to locate a KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Pad for your specific stock is to measure your stock against our KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Templates. From our KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Templates page, print your templates according to the directions. Additionally, please feel free to contact our office and requesting a hard copy of our KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Templates be mailed to you.

Measure and Compare

Once you have printed the templates or received them in the mail, remove your original pad and measure the length and width of your stock butt face. Next, compare these two measurements with the templates, and choose two or three templates that are close to your measurements. Now, stand your gun or your current pad on the templates you have selected (note: the accuracy measurement is ON the template line, not inside the template line). Last, be sure and check the screw hole location of the pad; this is especially critical for synthetic stocks.
If you locate a template that is close, but perhaps the new pad would be a little too long or a little too wide, that’s fine! KICK EEZ® Pre-Fit Pads can be ground to a perfect fit the very same way our regular Grind-To-Fit Pads can!

Additional Considerations

Remember, each and every KICK-EEZ Recoil Pad you receive will never contain steel plates, or hollow spots. Therefore, grinding one to fit your stock is actually quite simple. When selecting a KICK-EEZ recoil pad for your rifle or shotgun, keep these following considerations in mind as well:
  • Our KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Pads are only available in our All Purpose style, which means they are flat across the face of the pad and are available only in the color - black.
  • All KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Recoil Pads are 1 1/8” thick except for our #KZ 115 and our KZ-119 pads. Both of these pads are 15/16” thick.
  • If you feel you may be unable to modify one of our pre-fit pads to fit your stock, perhaps one of our large-sized KICK-EEZ Grind-To-Fit Pads will work better for you. Our GTF Pads come in several different styles, sizes and thicknesses. These pads have screw holes that are 3 1/8” apart center to center.
