Most Asked Recoil Pad Question, June 2018
At KICK-EEZ®, we’re always working with customers from all over to assist in the proper selection and fitment of any of our recoil pads for their shotguns and rifles. During these interactions, we choose to share certain questions and answers as our ‘Most Asked’ blog series and hope the information is useful for you. For June, the most frequently asked question was related to our KICK-EEZ recoil pad templates. A customer asked, Why doesn’t KICK-EEZ provide templates for their grind-to-fit recoil pads the same as they do for pre-fit pads that have the templates page?
Question: Why doesn’t KICK-EEZ provide templates for their grind-to-fit recoil pads the same as they do for pre-fit pads that have the templates page?
Answer: For custom fit grind-to-fit KICK-EEZ recoil pads, templates are not required. And because KICK-EEZ recoil pads never contain any steel plates or hollow spots, you are free to grind as much as you’d like for your custom application.
KICK-EEZ Grind-to-Fit Recoil Pads
Unlike the competition, KICK-EEZ® Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads never contain steel plates or hollow spots. Because of this, there’s no need to worry about sanding so much material from the pad that you hit a hollow spot or a metal plate.
To get started, simply measure the length and the width of your current recoil pad and use these measurements to select the KICK-EEZ® GTF Pad that will require the least amount of sanding to fit your stock. Two size variations are offered as you select your grind-to-fit recoil pad, described below:
- KICK-EEZ Grind-to-Fit Recoil Pads, MEDIUM:
- 5 1/4” long x 1 7/8” wide
- KICK-EEZ Grind-to-Fit Recoil Pads, LARGE:
- 5 5/8” long x 2” wide
Note on recoil pad thickness: both our large and medium grind-to-fit recoil pads come in various thicknesses and have screw holes that are 3 1/8” apart, center-to-center.
